Cube for larger parasol poles

The Cube is the first multifunctional parasol base: on the one hand you can put a trendy cushion on it and it is a beautiful pouf, on the other hand it is a fillable parasol base. We have now developed a new clamp in order to make the use of the Cube as a parasol base for parasols with poles with larger diameters possible.

Choose between a clamp for parasol poles of 29 to 39 mm or for parasol poles of 40 to 50 mm.

Prestigious international IF award for Belgian Frou Frou parasol

At the end of 2006, the Belgian company Symo launched the Frou Frou parasol.
This design-parasol speaks a language of its own: the constant movements and surprisingly flat form creates fancy dynamics on the terrace and in the garden.
The German International Forum Design recently granted the Frou Frou a prestigious IF Design Award. General Manager Pierre Christiaens: "This IF Award means international appreciation for all our efforts to create new design in the musty world of parasols."

About a year ago, Symo introduced "Sywawa": a new and groovy parasol brand. The Sywawa range stands for dynamic, surprising parasols and bases. Each design is created by an enthusiastic designer. Their renewing view in combination with our 75 years of experience results in a very strong cooperation.

The Frou Frou parasol is the first to top the Sywawa collection and the first parasol that goes along with its environment. Each breeze makes the Frou Frou dance to the rhythm of the wind. The word Frou Frou is derived from the French verb froufrouter, which means 'to rustle'. The design is inspired by the traditional archetype of the raffia parasol which in turn is engrafted onto the exotic straw parasol. The raffia evokes images of warm, white beaches with waving palms and rustling skirts. Even when the sun is not shining, the look of the parasol will bring you in the perfect mood. Designer Davy Grosemans: "the funny thing is that my design was inspired on the most cliché raffia parasol ever. In my opinion, the ultimate highlight is that the Frou Frou provokes more than just visual attention. Almost everybody wants to feel and touch the parasol and what's more, it sounds like the wind...

In September 2007 the Sywawa collection was selected for the Indoor-Outdoor hall of Maison et Objet. (French design exhibition)

For the first time world leading companies manufacturing garden furniture and parasols exhibited under 1 roof in this hall.
Not more than only 3 manufacturers of parasols were approved for exhibiting their products. Symo was one of them and thus gained a second international recognition.

Pierre Christiaens: "we are very pleased and proud to inform you that the Frou Frou parasol has been declared  the winner of the IF Product Design Awards 2008 and is carrying the IF quality label. The IF Award is one of the oldest and most reputable design contests. Since the mid fifties, it is an internationally recognized organisation for exquisite design. Worldwide present with offices in Hannover, München and Tapei, the IF is a symbol for exceptional design.
Earlier this year, the international jury made a selection from 2771 candidates. The Frou Frou was awarded in the category Leisure/Lifestyle. The jury founded its decision on the following criteria: design-quality, craftsmanship, choice of materials, ingenuity, ecologically soundness, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of use, safety, branding and universal design.

In 2008 Sywawa will launch 2 creations from Davy Grosemans: the Ribbon (parasol) and the Hole in One (parasol base).

Maison & Objet + Spoga Drink

For some time now Symo has been exhibiting at the Spoga fair in Cologne.During the past few years Maison et Objet in Paris has manifested itself as a fair for the top end outdoor furniture and first class parasols. As Maison et Objet takes place immediately after the Spoga fair, we have decided not to participate at Spoga but at Maison et Objet in Paris.

In cooperation with Extremis we will organize a parasol-drink in the Design Post as we want to give our business relations who are only visiting Spoga the opportunityy to take a look at our parasols.
You can visit us at the Design Post on Sunday September 2nd between 4 pm and 8pm.

For the first time Maison et Objet reserves a complete hall for outdoor furniture and parasols. The jury of Maison et Objet has selected Sywawa as supplier of innovative designparasols.

Sywawa embellishes the parasol base, finally!

Commissioned by the groovy parasol brand 'Sywawa' Dutchman Jan Melis has designed a parasol base that is a table and a stool at the same time.
Most people dislike traditional parasol bases. They are often bulky, ugly, heavy and difficult to move. Furthermore, they stand in the way and you can stub your toes against them. It is therefore that Jan Melis took up the challenge to design a parasol base people really like: an elegant, beautiful object that is easy to move. The result of this is the Cube.
The Cube exists in 3 colours: white, lime, green and taupe. Matching cushions and clip for parasol are available.

Sywawa: groovy parasol brand from and for 'Sun & shade lovers".

In 2007 Symo celebrates its 75th anniversary with the launch of a new, groovy parasol brand: Sywawa. The Sywawa range stands for dynamic, surprising parasols and bases.
Each design is created by an enthusiastic designer. Their renewing view in combination with our 75 years of experience results in a very strong team. General Manager Pierre Christiaens: "The parasol was developed 3000 years ago in Assyria and Egypt. For 30 centuries, the product remained nearly unchanged. Now, the market appeals for new ideas and original forms."
The brand is linked to the slogan "Sun & Shade Lovers", expressing the love for the shadow and the sun. This passion leads to a fascinating quest for renewing points of view, but also to the development of 75 years of tradition and experience in the trade of umbrella manufacturers. It was for good reasons that General Manager Pierre Christiaens was honoured "Maestro dell'Artigianato" by the city of Rome in 2005 (master of trade).
